Dr. Samuel Nana Yaw Adutwum has over fifteen (15) years’ experience in Enterprise Development, Organizational Management, Business Strategy and Marketing. He is currently a Senior Consultant with John Young & Associates Consulting and was embedded in the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Republic of Ghana between 2017 and 2023 as a member of the Ministry’s Technical Support Group. The Group was responsible for Enterprise Development, Policy and Programme Design, Implementation, and Coordination for the Government of Ghana’s Industrial Transformation Agenda. The team provided technical assistance to the Ministry in the design and implementation of a number of industrial and trade development initiatives and programmes, including the One District One Factory (1D1F) initiative; Strategic Anchor Industries Initiatives; SME Development; Industrial Parks and SEZ Development programme; and Business Regulatory Reforms (BRR) programme.
Before joining the Ministry in February 2017, Samuel undertook consulting assignments for global and national public sector institutions and organizations including the Development of External Monitoring and Feedback Mechanism on Implementation Status and Results (ISR) of World Bank Projects in Ghana for the World Bank; Market Development and Capacity Building for SNV Country Office; Preparation of Ghana Country Action Plan for Sustainable Energy for All by the year 2030 funded by UNDP; End of Project Evaluation of Business Sector Advocacy Challenge Fund by DANIDA; and Upgrading of the Existing Project Implementation Manual (REP II) into a Programme Implementation Manual for Rural Enterprises Project (REP) by IFAD and AfDB.
Samuel also has significant consulting experience with the private sector, having undertaken a number of assignments in Ghana including as Technical Assistant & Business Analyst for Transaction Advisory and Management Support Services for the acquisition of Volta Star Textiles Limited, Juapong; Project Management & Marketing Specialist for the Financial and Operational Review and Preparation of Restructuring Plan for Birim Oil Mills Limited located in Eastern region of Ghana; Marketing Consultant for the conduct of Feasibility Studies for the establishment of Mobile Phone Assembling Plant in Ghana by Corporate Care Int. and Partners; and Technical Assistant/Business Analyst for Transaction Advisory Services and Recapitalization Plan Preparation for the acquisition of Ayensu Starch Company Limited by Kinapharma Ltd. and Falcon Investment Inc of USA.
Dr. Samuel Nana Yaw Adutwum is the Special Assistant to Hon. Alan Kyerematen, the immediate past Minister for Trade & Industry of the Republic of Ghana. Samuel has also held various managerial roles, granting him cross sectorial experience including General Manager, Technical Services at the Center for Strategic African Initiatives (CSAI), Key Account Manager at Vodafone Ghana, Regional Sales Manager, Kinapharma Ltd. and National Sales & Distributions Manager for Dannex Pharmaceuticals Limited. Samuel was also a Part-Time Lecturer at Accra Institute of Technology (AIT), a private University College based in Accra where he taught Business Strategy, International Marketing and Procurement Management for over four years.
Dr. Samuel Nana Yaw Adutwum was awarded a PhD degree in Marketing and Business Strategy in March 2023 by the University of Hull in the United Kingdom, in addition to an MBA degree from the same University in 2011, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership from Chartered Management Institute (CMI) of UK. Samuel also has an Economics degree from KNUST, Kumasi and an HND in Marketing from Kumasi Technical University (formerly Kumasi Polytechnic). His research interest covers Business Recovery, Business Competitiveness, Enterprise Development, Political Marketing and Communications.
